Compositor e intérprete, Nelson Teran es originario de Matamoros, Tamaulipas. Pionero de la trova y la canción de autor en el suroeste de los Estados Unidos, Nelson Teran se destaca por la versatilidad de su repertorio en el que incluye diversos géneros del cancionero latinoamericano. Ha recorrido con su contundente voz y su guitarra, además de su natal México, países como Colombia, Canadá, Costa Rica, El Salvador, y los Estados Unidos de costa a costa. En el 2024 Nelson Teran irrumpe en la ciudad de Las Vegas con su espectáculo “La peña de Nelson Teran”, dándole vida a la música latinoamericana que se ha cantado por décadas en las tradicionales peñas del continente, de sur a norte. Con cuatro décadas dedicadas a su mayor pasión: la música, Nelson Teran cuenta entre sus logros la autoría del tema central de la película “Bordando la frontera”, once discos, grandes reconocimientos y una importante labor comunitaria dentro y fuera de México, que, unidos a su entrega en los escenarios y la pasión en cada interpretación, lo posicionan entre los más grandes cantautores de nuestros tiempos.
Mexican trobaudour NELSON TERAN was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. Perfectionist, passionate, in love with his guitar and his music, Nelson is a pioneer of trova music and Latin American folk songs in the Southern United States.
NELSON TERAN has traveled with his guitar and his awe-inspiring voice, not only his native Mexico, but also several countries such as: Colombia, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Canada, Costa Rica, and the United States from coast to coast. His forceful and unique timbre, his masterful interpretations of the tracks composed by the great masters of world trova, as well as the strength of his own songs of love and heartbreak, place him among the most beloved songwriters and singers for ballad lovers, classical and contemporary.
Mexican singer Nelson Teran’s musical journey is imbued with great successes. One is “Temperamento Bohemio” his first production recorded in 1998 in his native Matamoros. This album was supported by “Autumn International Festival” from the Government of the State of Tamaulipas. Nelson then was recognized as the “Voice of Autumn” and the following year was named “Favourite son of the city of Matamoros”. In 2024, Nelson Teran bursted in Las Vegas with his show “La peña de Nelson Teran”, a program that revives the music and rythm sang in the traditional Latin American “peñas”, from South to North.
With nearly a 40 year musical career, ten albums, theme creation and adaptation of music for the movie “Embroidering the border,” his commanding presence on stage, his passion and dedication to the music he loves, and an audience in which he firmly believes, Nelson Teran has left indelible marks in the hearts of his followers in each of his performances.
